I’ve been looking at webcams all over the planet since I did my Webcam Self Portrait series in St Petersburg a few years ago but I’ve been collecting footage for the last few weeks as a record of the world while everyone is at home in isolation. It’s amazing to see some places eerily empty while others are still quite busy. It’s also amazing what you can catch on a webcam. In Dublin a guy waves at the webcam, clearly doing his own webcam self portrait, or waving to friends elsewhere. Meanwhile, in Greece, I am capturing a guy a capturing the landscape, as a person walks into the street complete with camera on tripod photographing something off screen. Recorded during Covid-19 lockdowns, 2020.
